While going about your daily tasks, sometimes, in an instant, your mind goes numb with the realization that you exist. Here you are, skin and bones, brain whirring with thoughts. The voice in your mind silently whispers to you, “I exist; I am me.”
Suddenly the once mindless task becomes a laboriously scrutinized occurrence. You pouring milk into a glass turns into noticing in vivid detail how your fingers wrap around the jug; walking down an alleyway turns into a wonderous moment where you marvel at how the world around you exists:
Perhaps it is in this moment that you will realize how fast time slips from your grasp. You exist from one moment to another. A few moments ago, your reality is now in your past suddenly turned into a fading memory. It is baffling how quickly we change, how fast we grow, how swiftly we are required to adjust and adapt to the ever-changing whirlwind that is life. We are in a continuous state of becoming, a metamorphosis of the mind. Therefore, the need to learn and master the changing pattern in your life only comes naturally. It is human nature to try and bend change to our will and get frustrated and bitter when we fail to understand it.
The reality is this, change is neither decipherable nor is it learnt. Change is a tidal wave that sweeps across the sand at its own will. Trying to grasp change is like trying to cup the wind in your hands; it is impossible.
Carpe Diem
The mistake we make as humans, we try very hard to pin a concept in life to familiarity. We find examples and formulas for everything our mind conjures, and often, we try to box everything in the compartmentalized drawers–that is the reason.
We refuse to accept that we do not understand (or rather, that we do not need understanding). We are in constant pursuit of purpose. Are you terrified of the unknown? Relax. Flowers bloom, birds fly, take a seat and be. Change is the one constant in life.
